The plateau of Valensole and its lavender

In the land of lavender

The plateau of Valensole covers 800 km² in the hinterland of the Provence. Mainly dedicated to the growing of lavender and cereals, it was nicknamed the "Granary of the region ". When the summer arrives, the plateau is covered with endless blue lavender fields. This tradition of lavender growing dates from the Romans, who already used lavender to perfume their baths and clothes.
